ProgE/ernal I like listening to this album early in the morning before the city wakes, and late at night driving in the country when no one else is on the road. Give it a try, there's a lot here that is better said by the music than what I can write. Favorite track: I Was Six.

EJ Olsen A great introduction to John Van Deusen's body of work, as well as a stellar beginning to an ambitious album quadrilogy. These finely-crafted pop/rock tunes are accessible, yet deep enough to avoid being vapid. Favorite track: Don't Pitch Correct Me.

TrashxPanda For breaking the silence that much of the world suffers in. Thank you John. Favorite track: Absentee Heartbeat.

Chris Akers Here we have the absolute best of both worlds: Refreshing creativity with highest quality. Lyrics hit with a raw, relatable force - like I had accidentally wandered into someone's diary and found that it could have been my own. The kind of album that demands to be listened to in full. John has created something really special here. Kudos to Andy Park as well. This was my most anticipated album of the summer, and it absolutely lived up. What a launch. Cannot wait for Pt. 2. Favorite track: Don't Pitch Correct Me.

J Don't expect more of where TLF left off. That said, this is 100% the JVD you love. JVD has a gift with lyrics that cut to what it means to be a human in this busy world. This album is best enjoyed with tomato soup. Favorite track: Mass Effection.

Nonameiwant I'm so happy John is back to creating music. After seeing the lonely forest back in 2010 my friend and I found anything we could get our hands on by TLF and John. His voice is so unique, lyrics profound/thoughtful, and great arrangement of music. Can't wait for the future installments.

If I promise to let go will you take me in? Sinking into an ocean of fire I breathe you out. Why do you stay here waiting and waiting? Don't you know I'm lost? What if I lose sight? What if I falter? Do you know the cost? Every time I fall you are there for me. You brush off my knees, tell me to run again. I may never know or guess at the reason...why you'd stick around until the bitter end. I open my mind's eye, I see you floating there. Colors bind me to you. I cannot turn away. Why do you stay here? What if I lose sight? Every time I fall you are there for me. (I fall down, you pick me up, I fall down, you pick me up, I...) You brush off my knees, tell me to run again. I may never know or guess at the reason...why you'd stick around until the bitter end.
